In the course of the year several workshops were held in schools. Wikipedia and Wikimedia were presented to pupuils, which made the creation of a methods and script database necessary. During the workshops students were encouraged to consider strengths and weaknesses of Wikipedia as an encyclopedia. They were motivated to think about and start estimating the reliability of informaiton and sources. It was the wish of the educators to broach the issue of Wikipedia's usability in school. They argued that WP is not citable in pre-scientific wokrs and that the risk of copy and paste works increases. At one school it was agreed between teachers and studends that WP wouldn't be excluded as a source of information for presentations and homework as long as it is quoted just like any other source (WP offers a tool to make correct citations particularly user fiendly). Further, museum school trips and visits of other institutions were taken as an opportunity to create or edit encyclopedia articles. | |||
